Contructiononline Award For Weatherite

Our accreditation by Constructionline is a further sign of our committment to exceptional standards of quality in both manufacture and implementation

Weatherite Shopfronts & Shutters Limited (WSS), the specialist commercial window and door systems division of the Weatherite Group, has been awarded full accreditation status by Constructionline, the UK’s largest register of pre-qualified contractors and consultants.

Constructionline is designed to help both contractors and buyers of construction services. It achieves this by streamlining standard pre-qualification procedures and providing an up to date register of pre-qualified suppliers, whilst eliminating the need for contractors to continually complete PQQ forms every time they tender for private or public sector contracts.

To gain accreditation to  Constructionline, strict pre-qualification criteria has to be met by the applying supplier company and WSS successfully met these requirements for a wide cross section of categories, including; external aluminium doors, automatic doors, security doors, roller shutter doors, pluswindows and glazing applications.

Commenting on the award, Weatherite’s Group Commercial Director, Robert Boswell said,

"As a company WSS is committed to a programme of continued improvement both for our products and services. Replacement Air Conditioning Systems: A Cost Effective Solution

The replacement of out of date, often inefficient, high-maintenance air conditioning plant can present a major headache for the end user. Mechanical and performance deficiencies, frequent breakdowns and spiralling maintenance and repair costs can create a nightmare scenario for end users and facilities management companies. At the same time, managers are understandably reluctant to undertake any work that involves prolonged downtime and disruption whilst ripping out the old equipment and starting again from scratch.

Weatherite Manufacturing, the UK´s leading roof-top packaged air-conditioning specialists, offers a cost effective, energy saving alternative – direct replacement units.

By replacing old, worn out equipment with a bespoke package from Weatherite, clients can achieve substantial savings in installation costs, downtime and long term energy usage. As a further bonus, replacement systems also deliver a rapid pay back for building owners or end users a like.

Weatherite’s replacement solutions offer significant advantages over many ‘off- the-shelf alternatives. In many cases, current standard equipment may not match the footprint of the existing system or dovetail with existing services. Replacement units, however, provide a technologically advanced solution with all the energy and performance benefits of a new system – plus the bonus that the new equipment will match the existing physical parameters, in terms of footprint, services and ductwork.

There’s more. A Weatherite replacement unit comes with all the rewards of substantial – often spectacular - savings in energy costs and performance. Many of the systems still in situ on rooftops are, by definition, based on technology that is now decades old. Componentry, design and energy efficiency standards have made giant strides in that time. In Weatherite’s case, that means systems that have been designed to achieve key performance criteria for the minimum of capital outlay.

Having new equipment installed, especially if it involves the major structural changes often required to accommodate new units, is inevitably going to cause disruption. However, the bespoke design of a Weatherite system greatly reduces the work involved. Installation is much faster and simpler as the units undergo full testing and pre-commissioning before they leave the factory. The systems are also specifically designed to satisfy the demands of today’s ‘fast-track’ building environments. As the replacement units are designed to fit directly into the footprint of the old unit to be replaced, existing ductwork and services can usually be used, without disruption, saving a great deal of time and cost.

The cost-saving and performance benefits of a direct replacement unit do not end once commissioning has taken place. All facilities managers know that a good preventative maintenance programme will ensure the optimum performance of the air handling system and, of course, maximize cost-savings. Weatherite provides a total package of services that can last for the lifetime of the unit.

Weatherite has produced a new Replacement system brochure highlighting all the benefits associated with replacement systems.

Weatherite - The Cool Way to Control Your Energy Costs

Weatherite Group is urging data centre managers to take a fresh look to their data centre cooling systems if they want to substantially reduce their energy costs, CO2 emissions and PUE while still maintaining high efficiency cooling of their servers.

The company has been providing efficient, energy-saving, low carbon packaged cooling solutions for data centres and comms rooms for over 30 years. It aims to give customers the ideal cooling solution for their project, whatever its size and type, from design through manufacture, installation, commissioning to after sales service and maintenance support.

“When you consider that power and cooling for a typical Data Centre can account for over 60% of the total energy costs, getting the best possible cooling system for your application and requirements is critical,” says Pat Gillan, Data Centre Manager at Weatherite Group.

One of the most successful and efficient cooling methods is direct ‘free’ outside air cooling solutions with Weatherite notching up over 2000 successful installations for data centre owners, telecoms providers, utilities providers and the private and public sectors.

“Improvements to modern server equipment mean the energy efficient, low carbon benefits of direct outside air ‘free’ cooling can now be realised more widely than ever before,” comments Pat Gillan.

The Green Grid, ASHRAE, EU Code of conduct for data centres and major server manufacturers all recognise the need to widen the operating temperatures for data centres. In the UK, Weatherite calculates that direct outside air ‘free’ cooling process can be effective for well over 80% of the year, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week.

Free outside air cooling delivers benefits beyond dramatic energy savings and reductions in CO2 emissions, it also reduces the need for air conditioning compressors to constantly run at full speed, consuming significant amounts of energy. The lifetime of mechanical cooling equipment is also increased substantially and service intervals can be extended, which lower on-going maintenance costs.

Weatherite Manufacturing produces packaged free cooling units that can help lower costs further. Designed and built to suit the specific installation, the units are pre-commissioned and tested off site, saving the time and costs of on-site builds.

Many current data centres can also be upgraded to benefit from direct free outside air replacement cooling solutions with Cold Aisle Air Containment applications lending themselves very well to retrofitting with free cooling systems.

“Data traffic and energy costs are set to rise rapidly over the next decade. As one of the UK’s most experienced and innovative data cooling specialists, we can help data centre professionals make a significant difference to their energy costs and Co2 emissions. Weatherite offers free site surveys, with highly experienced technical staff to offer advice on achieving the optimum cooling solution for customers,” adds Pat Gillan.

Weatherite Group is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and providers of cooling solutions for data centres as well as the retail, leisure, health, education and commercial sectors.

Heat Recovery Systems For Tesco Stores

To design and manufacture a product to satisfy the heating and cooling requirements for the store, whilst incorporating high grade heat recovery from the food refrigeration plant.

Weatherite worked closely with the client and consulting engineers, together with the refrigeration engineers, to integrate within the HVAC system the food refrigeration cooling equipment.

This integration provided high grade recovery from the refrigeration packs, energy normally lost to atmosphere.

The design culminated in alternative integrated solutions heat reclamation directly from the refrigeration pack heat rejection or via a secondary fluid loop where energy circulated for use in other areas in the store.

High Efficiency Fan Technology Royal Victoria Centre

The existing air conditioning equipment for the busy Royal Victoria Shopping Centre in Tunbridge Wells was provided by a number of remote units, each of which had come to the end of its useful life and needed replacing as a matter of some urgency.

After undertaking a comprehensive survey, Weatherite Manufacturing recommended combining the existing remote units design into one high efficiency outdoor rooftop packaged unit.  This not only provided a major cost saving but also delivered 25% increased duty, latest high efficiency fan technology, remote interrogation of the system and a much shorter pay back period.
