WEATHERITE AIR CON PROVIDES A COOL SOLUTION FOR bet365 THANKS TO SES ENGINEERING SERVICES LTD
Weatherite completes prestigious contract with SES Engineering Services Ltd providing a comfortable and efficient environment for the world’s leading online gambling company bet365 at its new offices in Stoke-On-Trent.
The contract worth circa £200,000 included the design and manufacture of three bespoke air handling units at bet365’s office in Stoke. Weatherite worked closely with SES Engineering Services Ltd to ensure a low energy solution was provided.
Project Manager, Daniel Lawson of SES Engineering Services Ltd, said: “Weatherite’s expertise in lowering energy costs made them the obvious choice.
“The three air handling units were designed as complete packaged units. Weatherite had a great design concept and instead of having a separate condenser fan section, the return fan was used as the condenser fan. This has lowered energy costs and saved on the purchase price too.”
Weatherite’s Senior Sales Engineer, Grant Griffiths, said: “We decided to include the condenser heat rejection coil in the extract airstream and utilise the return air fan as a condenser fan. This meant no additional condenser fans, after doing a quick calculation we estimated we would save between 3000 to 4000 kwhs per year, per unit, that’s roughly £562.00 per unit.
“Other energy saving components were used, plug fans complete with inverters and high efficiency thermal wheels providing the end user with lower energy running costs.”

Apex Plaza Commercial Office Complex Case Study
PROJECT
This project involved replacing worn out Carrier, air to water VAVDX cooling units, located within a tightly packed plantroom. All the plantrooms located within this large commercial building are situated directly within the core of
the complex and, as a result, we had to design direct replacement cooling units in a ‘flat-pack’ configuration which could be designed, manufactured and tested at our manufacturing base before being totally dismantled, delivered to site, then re-assembled within the plantroom and commissioned ready for years of energy efficient operation.
SOLUTION
Because of Weatherite’s ability to design, manufacture, install, service and maintain high efficiency cooling solutions, we were able to undertake a thorough assessment of what was required in order to deliver exactly the solution the client was seeking – in the most cost effective way.
In this case, working alongside the Clients Consultant JDP, we designed cooling units that would exactly match the footprint of the existing, inefficient units but delivering the latest state-of-the-art technology which would provide high energy efficient, low carbon emitting, long term operation.
The newly installed units incorporated high efficiency capacity modulating digital scroll compressors, ec plug fans and the latest Trend IQ3 control system which interacts with the buildings BMS whilst also allowing remote monitoring of the individual cooling units from anywhere in the world.
Because we have over 40 years’ experience we can deliver replacement cooling technology, manufactured to fit exactly within the foot print of the old, worn out equipment, whilst utilising existing services such as ductwork, power, pipework etc, saving thousands of pounds in materials, labour, time and disruption.
This is an on-going project and we are working closely with Prudential Plc. onfuture replacement programmes.
Tesco, Yeovil Case Study
PROJECT
The project involved replacing the existing ‘Weatherite’ multi-zoned rooftop packaged cooling units originally installed over 17 years ago. The units were coming to the end of their useful lives and in need of being replaced with the latest state-of-the-art cooling technology. As an organisation, we have been delivering AC solutions to Tesco stores for over 20 years so they were more than confident that we could deliver a high quality Replacement’ solution – delivering long-term energy savings and highly efficient operations - at a cost effective price.
SOLUTION
As with all our clients, we offer a range of services including full project management capabilities. Alternatively we will work closely with the client’s teams to deliver the right solution. For this installation, Tesco requested we managed all aspects of the project from initial survey activity and reporting, through to design, manufacture, pre-testing and delivery of the new units to site before de-commissioning and removing the old units and installing the new units into exactly the same footprint-before finally hooking up to existing services including ductwork, BMS, power and water.
The new replacement units incorporated high efficiency backward curve fans, IE2 motors, the latest scroll compressors, inverters, heat exchangers and the new PX control system which interacts with the buildings BMS whilst also allowing total monitoring via a secure internet connection, from anywhere in the world.
The new units also incorporated environmentally friendly R407C refrigerant.
To minimise disruption to the stores important day to day activities and to the surrounding community, the new units were craned into position, installed, connected up and commissioned throughout the night and, as with all our installations, we ensured the full project team were present at the final hand over, to make sure the client was totally satisfied with all aspects of the installation. As with all our systems, maintenance programmes can be offered to ensure the units last another 17 years or, as with a high proportion of our cooling units, a lot longer.
